Welcome, my name is Steve Pyskaty the owner and founder of Northwest Ct Firearms Training. It all started a long time ago when my father handed me my first gun, a BB gun. The love of shooting started and grew as the years passed. I have been an active shooter all my life and love the sport. I have over 25 years of law enforcement experience and have been a certified firearms instructor since 1994. I have been trained and certified by the Massachusetts Police Academy. I have instructor certifications in pistol, revolver, shotgun and rifle. Since 1994 I have been training police departments and civilians all over Massachusetts and Connecticut.

When the major firearm laws changed in Massachusetts in 1998 I became a basic firearms safety course instructor through the Massachusetts State Police. To date, I have trained over 5000 citizens and taught over 1000 classes. In May of 2011, I became a certified NRA Pistol Instructor and have been teaching classes in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. The course in Connecticut covers everything needed to obtain a pistol permit or buy ammo. The course in Massachusetts covers everything needed to obtain a LTC Class A, LTC Class B, and the FID (long guns). In November of 2012 I became a NRA certified Range Safety Officer.

In 2013 I became a Chief Range Safety Office/Instructor and a NRA Home Firearms Safety Instructor. In January 2014 I became a NRA Shotgun Instructor and in March became a NRA Rifle Instructor. I also conduct new and ongoing training for Law Enforcement in Radar/Lidar and firearms qualification.  Each and every student that comes to one of my classes is treated with respect and is given all to time needed to learn at their pace. I'm confident each and every student will walk away from one of the classes with the skills and knowledge necessary to safely handle, load, clean, and fire any firearm.
